It was thirty degrees at 5:00 AM and the ground already had a blanket of snow.  We spent the next couple of hours watching the most amazing snow fall.  The flakes were large and the wind was whipping them around.

Our bird feeders were full and new species arrived to say hello.  The sun is attempting to peek out from behind the clouds and the snow is already melting.  It was a beautiful performance by mother nature.

I am not sure what the birds were thinking but the above captions are Ken's interpretation.

Spring Rains and Frost

It began to rain as we traveled over the hill to Virginia City yesterday.  After delivering a new collection of my leather bowls and Ken's prints to a new gallery we headed home.  We stopped at the lookout point to take in the magic and beauty of the changing weather over the mountains and valley.  Ken just sent me this image taken from that location.

I have been busy gathering collections for the galleries opening for the season and finishing more pieces for up coming shows.  Ken is filling orders and completing projects with summer deadlines.  In between he is keeping up with yard work and preparing beds for planting.  A frost with temperatures in the high twenties was present yesterday and today.  It is a good thing we chose not to plant just yet.

Most afternoons this week brought rain and temperature highs are in the sixties. It is fun to watch the green leaves and grasses replace the golds and  browns.  More of our bird friends are returning each day along with summer residents and tourists.  I love the hustle and bustle of our sleepy communities waking up to new life each spring.  It is always fun to see what the summer brings.

Beautiful Horse

Ken sent me this image of a lovely horse he encountered last week.  All the animals are responding to our spring weather changes.

It was warm and sunny the first part of the week.  Night before last we had a cold front come through with rain in the valley and snow in the mountains.  The mornings have been in the twenties and afternoons range from fifties to seventies.

Today it was cooler but the sun was shinning.  I did a little yard work late in the afternoon.  It has been a lovely spring so far.

Birds, Birds and More Birds

The birds have arrived.  Our yard is full of large groups of several species.  It is like seeing old friends stopping in for a visit.

The bird seed is going so fast we might need to take out a loan to keep the feeders full.

I noticed the pelicans are back on the Madison River.  There were several groups on the stretch between Norris and Four Corners.

Ken noticed the insect hatch.  It is a good thing his fishing gear was at home.  I am not sure we would have made it to Bozeman to pick up our supplies.

The weather yesterday was awesome.  The sun was out and the high was in the sixties.  We hit a small patch of heavy rain on the way home.  This morning we noticed a few snow flakes falling.  It was forty degrees and now the sun is peeking through the clouds.  Looks like it will be a nice day.
